A study was carried out to analyze real life incident of water hammer wherein an attempt was made to recreate water hammer involving steam water interaction in an instrumented engineering loop to capture pressure, temperature, flow rate and fluid levels in the loop.
The model domain was an individual flume channel (3 m wide×85 m long) with incident light, water temperature, and volume flux at the head as forcing functions.
After the incident, the water company constructed a physical model of the affected reservoir, Lowcocks, with a geometric scaling ratio of 32 1.
They get called in for road traffic crashes[RTCs] as well as fire incidents and water rescues.
Thus in future incidents, bottled water should be considered a priority over bowser water, where supply, distribution and recycling allows.
However, in areas conducting UNGDO, there have been incidents of water contamination (Jackson RB et al. 2013), worker exposure to levels of silica dust that exceed OSHA Occupational Safety and Health Administrationn) standards (Esswein et al. 2013), and reports of health effects among community residents (Bamberger and Oswald 2012; McKenzie et al. 2014).
