Erroneous laboratory results may go undetected in the absence of quality control, and may be due to multiple causes such as intrinsic weaknesses of a test not produced under strict quality regulations, inadequate conservation and manipulation, or inappropriate local validation.
However, this generates a rather large group of false negatives, which is inappropriate to a validation.
What will validation validate?
To assess content validity, a validation review was performed by an expert committee, including relevance and intelligibility, to highlight any items that may be inappropriate at a conceptual or cultural level.
Many experiments were replicates, so standard n-fold cross-validation was inappropriate.
Although we did not question the users as to the reason for this behavior, mainly because we perceived this characteristic only during analysis of the results, we believe that the users considered the content presented as sufficient and that a validation of the inappropriate and/or incorrect relations would be enough.
In general, bias can originate from preferential treatment, unrecognized pre-selection of validation animals, or inappropriate modeling of predictions (i.e. using incorrect variance components).
Fig. 5 shows the mean scale values for both Chinese and U.S. participants after registration to the nationality-appropriate and nationality-inappropriate brain templates in the internal validation tests.
This can lead to inappropriate conclusions being drawn from data acquired in validation studies of new monitoring technologies.
Lastly, there are always queries regarding the appropriate sample size for validation studies, particularly when it is inappropriate to estimate the extent of cultural differences on instrument construction.
