Due to low catching numbers of these two target species in two sampling campaigns, we decided to catch those fish species instead that were most abundant during the respective sampling events (Table 1).
Concentrations of Pb, Cu, Mn, Zn, Fe, Cd, and Cr were found within limit except for Fe content during the monsoon season in two sampling locations which is above desirable limit, i.e., 300 µg/L as per Indian drinking water standard (BIS 2003).
Rasul et al. (2015) have determined the highest total nitrogen (TN), total phosphorus (TP), ammoniacal-nitrogen (NH3-N), nitrate-nitrogen (NO3-N), and phosphate-phosphorus (PO4-P) values which were found in two sampling points at the Bertam downstream where farming activities are noticeable and intensive.
"We found the outbreak strain in three samplings we took but we're continuing the investigation," said Stephen Cohen, spokesman for the department's food and safety and inspection service.
