The outcome here in the capital of the Confederacy was a substantial victory for Mr. Bush because by capturing all of Virginia's delegates to the national convention (1,034 are needed for the nomination), he surpassed Mr. McCain in the total delegate tally.
Just last week, Senator Ted Cruz, who is currently second in the total delegate count for the Republican nomination, outlined his plan for American Muslims: "We need to empower law enforcement to patrol and secure Muslim neighborhoods before they become radicalized".
In total, the states in this final 3 week stretch have 509 total delegates -- or almost half of what is needed for the nomination.
With 698 delegates, Mr. Romney remains short of the 1,144 needed to clinch the nomination, and even the 231 total delegates at stake Tuesday in Connecticut, Delaware, New York, Pennsylvania and Rhode Island won't change that reality.
In total, two thousand and seventy-three delegates are still available.
