The salinity, 4He, and stable isotope composition of discharging groundwater was then estimated by fitting modeled values to observed in-stream values.

Though the velocity rapidly increases from zero to the free stream value, we observe in this figure that in the current study, the chemical reaction parameter has very little influence on the velocity profiles.
We interpret this U-shape pattern as a balance between isolation by distance caused by in-stream movements at low values of p and intense migrant exchanges within the same branching unit at high values of p. Our study is the first attempt to model out-of-network movements.
