Besides, we show by simulation that EC codes perform much better than the existing overlapped chunked codes in line networks.
We evaluate the performance of EC, BATS, and LC codes in line networks with different network lengths and packet loss probabilities.
The empirical cumulative distribution functions (eCDFs) of the number of decodable input packets for each code in line networks with lengths four and ten are plotted in Figs. 3 and 4, respectively.
Since we do not have the analytical results to calculate the achievable rates of these two codes, we conduct simulations in line networks with ε=0.2 and lengths four and ten for the performance comparison.
For each network topology, we consider 10 pairs of outlets (links S D), and for each pair of randomly picked outlets, we place the relay according to the configurations presented in "In-home power line network topology" section.
From the previous results we highlight that, over the considered in-home power line network topologies (see "In-home power line network topology" section), ODF gives good rate improvements w.r.t.
As reported in Fatas et al. (2010),13 contributions in the line network are significantly lower than in the complete and star networks across types, even if we control for first-round decisions and lagged contributions.
Table 2 lists the average achievable rate values considering all the strategic relay configurations presented in the "In-home power line network topology" section for both noise levels.
