Responding to this issue, a research group led by Rose et al [30] from the University of Lille, France, has designed an algorithm with two T1-weighted sequences for cases which saturate at 350 μmol in the University of Rennes model, significantly improving the correlation with the true LIC (R = 0.81).
The resulting codes strongly support the robustness of the physical parameters obtained in (Temiz and Camacho, 2009), improving the correlation coefficient R to 0.998 with just seven free parameters (minimum over-fitting).
The report by Nathan et al. (39) in which 24,000 glucose measurements were done on each participant resulted in an R (0.81) and regression equation very similar to that reported in the ADAG study, suggesting that performing more measurements will not in itself improve the correlation.
