When fast muscles in hypothyroid rats are subjected to slow stimulation, myonuclei in fast-to-slow transforming fibres show accumulation of myogenin mRNA (Putman, Dusterhoft & Pette, 2000).
It was not investigated if NFAT transactivating activity increases in fast muscles subjected to slow stimulation, hence NFATs role in fast-to-slow transformation was not directly addressed in these experiments.
