This is especially important since recent and anticipated advances in sequencing technologies [50], [51], bioinformatics programs and pipelines [52], [53], [54], improvements in existing sequencing technologies [55] have triggered efforts for conducting coverage-oriented metagenomic surveys aiming at complete sequencing of an entire ecosystem [56], [57].
While we cannot exclude the possibility that this is specific to the adaptor sequence used (rather than a general limitation of this enzyme), this bias does make Mth K97A inappropriate for use in existing sequencing protocols.
