The preference of probes for various membrane phases was determined by measuring the partition coefficients of each probe into bilayers in different phases [16].
It is well established that tick feeding proceeds in different phases [52], hence, it is logical to expect that the different phases of feeding may be driven by concomitant changes in the expression profile of tick salivary genes and therein perhaps, lies the essence of successful tick feeding.
