In these cases a further scan was scheduled within one month after the start of antibiotic therapy and eventually repeated until complete remission.
Rescreening of all those originally screened normal is not justified, but consideration should be given in future to offering a further scan after about 5 years for the small proportion of men with an aortic diameter in the range 2·5 2·9 cm.
