In univariate imputation, where only a single variable has missing data, the imputation model can be tailored to the variable being imputed, for example, a linear regression model for a continuous variable or a logistic regression model for a binary variable.
While this method would preserve the range of the variable, it was not considered here due to the large number of categories for the GHQ variable being imputed; for example, in the case of the Likert scoring of the GHQ with a range of 0 – 36, there are 37 ordinal categories.
