Health professional boards in some developed countries have embraced CPD as an effective way of maintaining and improving competencies of health professionals and have made them mandatory [ 5, 6].
Publications like the Improving Competencies in Clinical Ethics Consultation: An Education Guide of the Clinical Ethics Task Force of the American Society for Bioethics and Humanities (ASBH) [ 1], for example, demonstrate that there is attention to the provision of education in support of these important functions.
The perception of the degree in which the entire experience helps to improve competencies is not high (3.5 to 6) and the final grades, as outlined, have not either.

These may be indicators that health staff is motivated to improve competencies and therefore interventions should be supported.
