It is important to understand the concerns of women with heavy menstrual bleeding as patient centred care has been shown to improve patients' enablement and satisfaction with health care [ 10] as well as health outcomes [ 11].
Furthermore, better demonstration of empathy, information sharing about the patient's illness and greater efforts to improve patient enablement could positively affect the perception of the patients about the provider's competency and consequently their satisfaction.
These include the open communication of information between the doctor and the patient, with subsequent encouragement of the patient's enablement and improved adherence to medical advice; 6 10 11 the reduction in rates of referral with associated cost reductions 2; and the improvement of health outcomes and better patient perceptions of healthcare.
