A treatment program for OCD was developed in which patients receiving treatment were expected to improve on measures of OCD, global functioning, quality of life and secondary psychiatric symptoms.
The results indicated that while the nonimpaired controls did not improve on measures of global cognition (MMSE scores), episodic memory, executive function/WM, visuospatial processing, or attention/processing speed, the MCI participants receiving some form of cognitive intervention made significant gains in episodic memory and executive function/WM relative to the MCI controls.
The participant also improved on measures of cognition, vitality, volition, and daily life activities [ 35].
Both groups improved on measures of cognitive functioning and functional capacity.
The MCI participants in the CRT group significantly improved on measures of global cognition, memory, attention, visuomotor ability, executive function, language, and daily functioning between pre- and postassessment.
For example, patients who deteriorate in their treadmill exercise capacity should, in general, show increases in dyspnea, whereas those whose exercise capacity improves should experience less dyspnea; a new emotional function measure should show improvement in patients who improve on existing measures of emotional function.
Adjusted (Tukey) multiple comparisons between waitlist and baseline showed no statistically significant difference between the time points for all measures in each group; indicating that children do not simply improve on these measures over time without treatment.
In a given trial, there's always variation: some people get better, some get worse, and others improve on some measures and decline on others.
Because addressing most sustainability issues requires a long-term outlook, firms' incentive structures often undermine their ability to improve on ESG measures.
