In this study we examine teachers' perceptions of importance of competencies and explore their implications for teacher education.
Only in the last analysed period, Web 2.0 and the recognition of the importance of competencies such as digital or self-regulated learning seem to generate innovative designs in which the individual takes on a stronger role.
