Politicians, having put the responsibility to make such a significant and far-reaching decision to the people, now have a duty to implement that decision.
"Once a minister has made up his or her mind and given a decision, the constitutional role of the civil service is explicitly clear, it is to implement that decision," he said.
She must have the information she needs to make an informed decision and all the services and support to help her implement that decision.
