To the Editor: Unfortunately, Alex Perriello's proposal to solve the current mortgage crisis by implementing equity-sharing arrangements between lenders and underwater homeowners ignores the single most important indicator of future loan performance and default risk: how much equity a homeowner has in his or her home.
Implementing equity-based approaches require courage, determination and substantial effort.
Designing and implementing equity-oriented strategies remains, however, a key challenge in low- and middle-income countries [ 21].

National and international research has emphasized the importance of addressing displaced persons' experiences of war trauma [ 3, 4], political upheaval [ 19], persecution and torture [ 20], and challenges associated with resettlement [ 15, 21] and cross-cultural differences when developing and implementing health equity initiatives [ 22, 23].
