At UC Berkeley, DIL Chief Scientist Shankar Sastry, dean of the College of Engineering, said the campus's interest is in making inventions and solutions practical, affordable and workable, and in ensuring they can be implemented on the ground in a way that directly benefits people and nations in need.
In particular, studies are needed to measure the kinds of prevention activities that are being implemented on the ground by schools in response to anti-bullying statutes, to identify the statutes that impact specific behaviors, and to assess the long-term effects of the law after saturation of prevention activities.
