While specific aspects of various Asian countries' examination systems have been researched, reported and critiqued (for example, Kwon et al. 2017; Qi 2007; Qian and Cumming 2017), there is still relatively little published research about the operations and impact of examinations within Bangladesh.
The potential psychological impact of examinations and medical photography should be considered, and for the adolescent, a thorough physical examination by a surgeon and a gynaecologist, depending on the sex of the adolescent, may only be appropriate under an anaesthetic.
However, such bias may have less impact on examination of associations between variables, than on estimates of rates.
Neither practitioner examination skills nor the impact of that examination could be assessed in this experiment.
