By variational calculus in the FEA-based tooth contact analysis, it is possible to analyze the impact of deviations in tolerance fields and optimize the micro geometry.
To mitigate these shortcomings, probabilistic geometric design has been advocated where reliability analysis can be used to account for the uncertainty in the design parameters and to provide a mechanism for risk measurement to evaluate the safety impact of deviations from design standards.
The larger the variation within-condition, the coarser the average effect and the more relevant is the impact of deviations from it.
Simulation can also estimate the expected impact of deviations from optimal study implementation, such as item non-response and participant drop out.
Analyses carried out by Barot et al. (2004) examined the impact of deviations from these assumptions on results and showed that modest violations of these assumptions had no significant effects on the estimation of DemPMRN.
