Although questions have been raised about whether enough is known about the efficacy and impact of CUREs and research experiences in general (Linn et al., 2015), the potential benefits of CUREs are driving widespread development and implementation of this pedagogy.
Different means of assessment need to be used to further probe the impact of CUREs on students (Brownell and Kloser, 2015; Corwin et al., 2015).
Due to the highly coordinated nature of the glue curing process, slight alterations in enzyme activity could have major impacts on curing.
Future research may establish that networking is an important component of retention, valuable in differentiating course experiences, and a mechanism for evaluating the broader societal impacts of CUREs.
We intend for this report to serve as a starting point for a series of informed discussions and education research projects that will lead to far greater understanding of the usages, value, and impacts of CUREs, ultimately resulting in cost-effective, widely accessible, quality research experiences for a large number of undergraduate students.
The viscosity of the uncured epoxy increased after the incorporation of HNTs, while the impact properties of the cured epoxy/HNTs nanocomposites were found to be highly dependent on the characteristics of base epoxy matrix, as determined by changing the type of curing agent.
