The IPCC went even further, stating that climate change impacts are projected "to prolong existing and create new poverty traps".
Climate impacts are projected to get much worse, particularly in developing countries that did not create the problem.
According to the IPCC, "Throughout the 21st century, climate-change impacts are projected to slow down economic growth, make poverty reduction more difficult, further erode food security, and prolong existing and create new poverty traps".
The most recent report from the UN's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, approved by 195 of the world's nations, concluded that limiting the impacts of global warming "is necessary to achieve sustainable development and equity, including poverty eradication" and that climate change impacts are projected "to prolong existing and create new poverty traps".
"Throughout the 21st century, climate-change impacts are projected to slow down economic growth, make poverty more difficult, further erode food security, and prolong existing and create new poverty traps, the latter particularly in urban areas and emerging hot spots of hunger," the report states.
End-of-century impacts were projected using the A2 and B1 Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change emission scenarios.
Human impacts are projected to result in the loss of up to 16% of all existing habitat within the reserve over the next 30 years.
As shown here, state-level RPS programs specifically designed to support solar have already proven to be an important driver for solar energy deployment, and those impacts are projected to build in the coming years.
Some of these impacts are projected to occur in places where older adults are heavily concentrated and likely to be most exposed.
While health impacts are projected to decrease relative to economic impacts, given reductions in per-vehicle emission rates, there remain multiple urban areas in which the public health impacts are still appreciable in 2030.
