Gretag Imaging Holding A. G., Switzerland's largest maker of image-processing equipment, said yesterday that it had bought the rest of Sienna Imaging Inc. of Denver to strengthen its digital-imaging business.
"By the end of our local-mapping campaign, we will be able to see an object the size of a penny on the surface of Bennu," Daniella DellaGiustina, the mission's lead image-processing scientist, said.
TinEye, which predates Google's service, employs image recognition, image processing and computer-vision research, says its co-founder and boss Leila Boujnane.

The company says it boosted image processing speeds and built-in video memory from 16Mbits to 32Mbits with the new controller.
"We go down to, not just even the network layer, but even to the assembly level so that we can run some of the execution instructions very efficiently and some of the image processing on the GPU for phones," says Hu. "So on a high level it is a SLAM system, but the exact method and how we engineered it is novel for efficient mobile devices".
Regarding our future work, we are confident to say, that the image processing application domain provides all necessary ingredients for testing and evaluating developed concepts in realistic scenarios.
