The Dong-A Ilbo, one of Seoul's leading newspapers, characterized the government's call for dialogue and an end to the North Korean nuclear program as "weak".
In a rare interview carried in The Dong-A Ilbo newspaper on 24 February, Hwang said he wanted to resume work on human stem cells, telling the paper: "I ask the Seoul government and the Korean people to give me just one more chance".
The conservative daily, the JoongAng Ilbo, reported on Tuesday that Hwang Min, a former agriculture minister, and Ri Yong-jin, a senior official at the education ministry, were executed by anti-aircraft gun at a military academy in Pyongyang earlier this month.
"Koreans must think seriously about their ability to defend themselves when the U.S. they have long regarded as a friend and protector becomes a mere business acquaintance," the conservative newspaper Chosun Ilbo editorialized on November 10th.
Much of South Korea's news media see the enrichment issue as overblown, as evidenced by the JoongAng Ilbo editorial headline on Saturday: "Tempest in a Teapot".
The conservative daily Chosun Ilbo said in a commentary on Thursday: "There is no way to avoid calling such a country an enemy.
On April 20th the Chosun Ilbo, the south's biggest-selling daily, urged the government not to rule out military action.
It continued on Wednesday in Chosun Ilbo, the source of many bankrupt Kim Jong-un reports, which reported that Kim was "recovering in the provinces" from this unknown sickness.
Kim had fractured both of his ankles and had surgery in Pyongyang in the middle of September to treat them, the Chosun Ilbo, South Korea's largest newspaper, reported on Tuesday, citing an unnamed source.
"Working together, our militaries will continue to deter North Korean aggression and stand prepared to defeat the North should it ever force war upon us," Mr. Panetta wrote in an opinion article published on Wednesday in Chosun Ilbo, South Korea's largest newspaper.
