The differences can be due to a number of reasons such as small sample sizes, different computational methods used to identify sense and antisense genes, different criteria used to filter out spurious different-strand gene pairs, and different experimental data used for the evidence of transcription.

This study was exploratory and revealed that the method was successful in identifying sense-antisense transcript pairs using the commercial Wheat Genome Array.
