The robustness against noise is achieved through (i) projection of continuous-time I/O signals onto a finite dimensional parameter space, (ii) initial models through preparatory experiment and (iii) noise tolerant learning laws.
The effect of (i) projection ratio (LTN/DT), i.e., ratio of the distance between the nozzle tip and throat (LTN) to the throat diameter (DT), (ii) the diameter of the suction chamber (DS) and (iii) the angle of the converging section on the entrainment rate of the secondary fluid have been studied.
Our results suggest that there are ∼ 215 lamina I projection cells per side, and that spinothalamic cells therefore make up ∼ 42% of this population.
They are more numerous in cervical enlargement, but the total number of lamina I projection neurons in this region was not known.
These would therefore constitute 48% of lamina I projection neurons at this level, compared to ∼ 30% in L4 (Spike et al., 2003).
Here we have used paired injections of retrograde tracers into the brainstem to estimate the number of lamina I projection cells in the C7 segment.
