I had come to Mad Science because some part of me actually, sincerely thought I could make it big.

If one actually, sincerely believed that abortion was murder, then one would want to go to any length to prevent the murder from happening — but, of course, those who are the loudest for the magic metaphysics of mystical embryology are often the loudest against the right of women to have easily available (or, indeed, any) contraception.
The conversation wends on, and as always, we sort of dance around the topic that one side of the debate actually sincerely wants to "punish" women for having pre-marital and/or non-procreative sex, but never says so. (And it's only women. No one ever questions the intelligence of keeping octogenarians in bonerjuice).
