This strategy has been applied to ethylene hydrogenation over Pt/Al2O3 in a catalytic CSTR by manipulating the ethylene and hydrogen feed rates as functions of the ethylene concentration in the reactor effluent.
The performance indices (quality characteristics) to be analyzed are the methanol conversion, the hydrogen production rate, the CO concentration in the produced mixture, and the ratios of the hydrogen production rate to the methanol feed rate and the catalyst loading, respectively.
The yield dependence on feed rate and on hydrogen shell-side pressure were adequately described (at 500°C) by a simple model, that incorporates a three-parameter rate expression, that accounts for the accelerating role of hydrogen pressure.
In this work, the optimal coating process (OCP) designed by Taguchi program for high velocity oxy-fuel (HVOF) thermal spraying WC CrC Ni powder on Inconel 718 substrate (IN 718) is obtained by optimizing hardness (38 FMR oxygen flow rate, 53 FMR hydrogen flow rate, 25 g/min powder feed rate and 7 in. spray distance).
The measured deposition efficiency, porosity and microhardness of the coatings were regressed as the first- to third-order polynomial equations of five investigated process parameters, the arc current, argon flow rate, hydrogen flow rate, spray distance and powder feed rate, using stepwise regression analysis.
Based on the preliminary investigations, four parameters (number of hydrogen membranes, number of oxygen membranes, direct oxygen feed rate and steam-to-carbon feed ratio) are carefully chosen as main variables for the process optimization.
