To illustrate the patterns of callosal connections labeled with HRP or striate projections resulting from restricted injections of HRP or BDA, thresholded versions of these patterns were prepared after first applying a median filter to reduce noise, followed by a high-pass filter to remove gradual changes in staining density across the entire digital image.
In contrast to the HRP-dendrimer and HRP-MB-dendrimer systems, which demonstrated very close bioelectrocatalytic patterns, multicofactor SOx wired to MB-dendrimer showed a bioelectrocatalysis superior to that based on direct ET reaction.
This pattern matches very well the observed pattern of expression and expression patterns of the genes of the hrp regulon and would be quite unlikely to occur from the model by chance, given the potential state space.
