A key aspect of organizational learning relates to the organizational memory, or how 'organizations encode, store, and retrieve the lessons of history despite the turnover of personnel and the passage of time' (Levitt and March [1988], p. 319).
That said, we suggest that effects based on respondent self-reports are useful in highlighting whether and how STEM education reforms are targeting organizational memory functions (see Figure 5 below).
Given the centrality of organizational memory functions in supporting faculty practice, measuring changes to how curricular information is stored and retrieved would provide insights into these matters.
