The industry has never liked to talk about these practices — which is to say, about how the food we eat is actually produced — but it apparently came to the conclusion that it is better off telling the story itself rather than letting its critics do it.
But how we eat, and even how we feel about eating, may in the end be just as important as what we eat.
But lately the news about how and what we eat can be described only as startling, discouraging, distressing and, it must be said, more than a bit weird.
So can we ward off the ill effects of jet lag by being more careful about how or when we eat?
