There are several English translations of the Vimala-Kirti Sutra; the one I like best is by Dr. Robert A. Thurman, entitled The Holy Teaching of Vimala-Kirti.
In a passage in Latin he wrote: Some ignorant clerics reject calculations of this kind (for shame!) and do not wish to keep their phylacteries, that is, they do not preserve the order, which they have received in the bosom of mother church, nor do they persist in the holy teaching of meditation.
He made reference to the book of Matthew 28 19-20, which reads, "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I command you".
Although there is no actual account of the institution of baptism by Jesus, the Gospel According to Matthew portrays the risen Christ issuing the "Great Commission" to his followers: "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you" (Matthew 28 19 20).
Moreover, the "Great Commission" of Jesus declares: "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, to the close of the age" (Matthew 28 19 20; compare Mark 16:15, Luke 24:47, John 20 21 22, and Acts 1 8).
But mostly because there's something holy about teaching.
In Matthew 28 19-20, Jesus instructed his disciples, "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.
Seek out a Christian church that teaches from the Bible and from the Early Church Fathers, not from their own personal interpretations of what the Holy Bible teaches (nor traditions of a particular denomination).
