Food sovereignty is an approach originating from the rural poor of Latin America (and beyond) that unites efforts to address unbalanced international trade policies, historical legacies and continuation of inequality, and the continuing consolidation of agricultural modernization policies often associated with negative impacts for small-scale farmers and sustainable ecosystems.
