We adopted Ruggiero et al. (2015) for the higher level classification of seed plants (Subphylum Spermatophytina and above).
Apparently, the higher level classification of the anguilliforms requires substantial revision based on more extensive taxon and character sampling.
Globally the order Rodentia represents the richest mammalian diversity [ 1], yet species and higher level classification within the order remains to be resolved due to controversies surrounding morphological character evolution in the group [ 2- 5].
However, morphology has not proved satisfactory for the higher level classification of the group and it remains to be seen whether addition of morphological characters will resolve basal relationships, though we suspect that these nodes will be difficult to resolve.

The sets of Reference Soil Groups presented in this text may therefore not be seen as high level classification units but merely as an illustration how basic principles of soil formation manifest themselves in prominent global soil patterns.
