Aside from FABP7, covariates considered in multivariable modeling included MELD, lactate, vasopressors use, RRT, MV and high coma grade.
Often, anticoagulated older adults do not present with typical signs and symptoms of head injury, that is, they presented with a higher Glasgow Coma Score, presented to the emergency department awake and thus were often under triaged (Brewer et al. 2011; Howard et al. 2009; Ivascu et al. 2005).
This may help to explain data from a Canadian survey reporting that patients with a higher Glasgow Coma Scale score had a longer ICU stay [ 30].
Compared with patients with a normal plasma sodium (135 145 mmol/L), those with hyponatremia had a higher Glasgow Coma Scores (GCSs), had greater parasite densities, and were less acidotic (Table 2).
Second, as shown in Table 1, for the 26 patients we analyzed their cytokine levels had a higher Glasgow Coma Scale compared to 36 patients for whom no CSF was available.
In the SOFA-matched group (Table 3), the patients with cirrhosis had a lower platelet count (P < .001), a higher Glasgow coma scale (GCS), a more stable haemodynamic status, more favourable renal function, a higher bilirubin level, and a lower albumin level compared with the patients without cirrhosis.
However, already at admission, survivors presented with lower heart rates (median 150 vs. 185 bpm, P = 0.0132) higher Glasgow coma scale scores (mean 12.5 vs. 9.9, P = 0.027) and less negative base excess compared with non-survivors (median -4.95 vs. -11.85 mmol/l, P = 0.021).
FABP7 was not associated with the development of ICH/CE [OR 1.000 per increment, 95% CI (0.999, 1.001), p = 0.57] after adjusting for the only significant covariate, high hepatic coma grade [OR 25.76 (1.472.572.5), p = 0.029].
Related symptoms include high fever, coma, muscle weakness, and paralysis.
The study population had small haematomas, better initial National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale scores and high Glasgow Coma Scale scores, which may reduce the generalisability of the result.
