The fine characterization of panicle architectural plasticity was made possible here by using an original, dedicated software P-TRAP (Al-Tam et al. 2013) and comparing i) control and shaded plants during panicle formation in a greenhouse experiment in Montpellier and ii) low and high-density crops in the field at IRRI in the Philippines.
