If you are playing the jokers-in variation, remember that jokers and 2s are high spades.
If you are relying on high Spades or Hearts, however, you probably need at least a couple Aces or Kings, as your opponents will probably keep high cards in those suits until later on, and use them to disrupt your attempt.

West led a high spade.
A spade ruff left declarer with a trump and a high spade.
And East, who had to retain her high spade, also parted with a heart.
Now a club switch was needed, but West led a second high spade.
East led his high spade queen, but South accurately threw his last heart.
East should have led a third high spade, forcing dummy to ruff, regardless of the rest of the layout.
Now when declarer led his diamond, West stepped in with her ace and played a high spade.
One possibility was a high spade to look at the dummy, but that would have risked giving up a tempo, possibly helping declarer establish spade tricks.
Note that that contract would have gone down one if South led a high spade then shifted to her singleton diamond.
