In this regard, it is of interest that the previous authors found that high glucose sensitized INS-1E cells to the apoptotic effect of a pharmacological inducer of ER stress [32], which may support our conclusion that glucose is an amplifier of ER stress.
In addition, its oxidation products can have higher sensitizing potentials.
