In other cases bonds would be set, sometimes initially by ICE, sometimes on appeal to immigration courts, that would often be prohibitively high, running up to $10,000 or more – a price that many immigrant families could not afford.
The massive layers are more common in areas with smaller run up (more than 50%) than in the regions with a higher run up (approximately 40%).
For areas with averaged slope inclination of 1.5 to 3% (most common in the studied case), the inundation was partly correlated with slope inclination and run up height-generally shorter inundation distance and higher run up was in observed on steeper slopes (Szczuciński et al., 2006).
Yoneyama et al. (2002) performed a numerical analysis of the locally high run-up caused by the 1993 Hokkaido-Nansei-Oki seismic tsunami.
General wave height of tsunami attacks at the coastal line is less than 1.5 m, with 32 abnormal high run-ups.
Meanwhile, submarine landslides can generate local tsunamis with high run-ups, posing a hazard to human lives and coastal facilities in huge range (Levin and Nosov [2009]).
With the higher run ups, the accumulation is shifted landward.
In some of the areas with the highest run ups, the deposit thickness increase inland until it reached approximately 1/3 of the inundation distance, where the maximum is observed, and then the deposits thin landward (transects 1, 5 and 6 in Fig. 3).
Higher run-up values were observed at the corners of the inner (rhombohedron-shaped) basin.
