"hero image" is a correct and usable phrase in written English.
It typically refers to an image, usually a photograph, that is prominently featured on a website or other form of digital media, often serving as a visual representation of the company or brand. For example, Nike may feature an image of an athlete running with their iconic logo prominently featured in the background as their hero image.
Cernan had to learn how to sell the hero image, even if he himself didn't particularly believe in it.
