Thus, the lateral hemispheres project to the dentate nucleus (figure 2 A, B); the intermediate cortex project to the globose and emboliform nuclei (figure 3 A); and the vermis projects to the fastigial nucleus (figure 3 C).
Another group of 5HT-ir neurons is situated in soma cluster D. Eight 5HT-ir neurons in both hemispheres project anteriorly to the ONs (sD2; Figures 3A, B and 6A, E, E').
The following heuristic rules were applied; streamlines were rejected if they were (a) crossing to the contralateral hemisphere, (b) projecting superiorly from the LGN, (c) projecting antero-inferiorly, into the temporal pole and (d) projecting parallel to the medial wall of the posterior horn of the lateral ventricle.
