We fixed the height at benchmark No. 212 in the Shiga prefecture, which was located sufficiently far from the focal region (Fig. 1).
We additionally checked the influence using a case where the linear expansion coefficient had an uncertainty of 5.0 × 10−7/°C, where the temperature difference was 10 °C and where the maximum relative height from benchmark BM34 was approximately 350 m.
The number of rectangles to be placed is subsequently increased from as small as 10 (i.e., N1) to too large as 3,152 (i.e., N13). Figure 10a, b shows the results of 50 runs of the algorithm, all for a maximum of 75 generations, but terminating if the fitness function attained the value 150 (which is the optimum height) for N9 benchmark dataset.
This work presents the results achieved through several trials conducted on the use of high precision trigonometric levelling for measurement of height difference between benchmarks at opposite sides of streams.
As an example, there are benchmarks for height and weight progression with age in children (commonly known as growth charts).
