The original sediment composed of kaolinite, quartz, and water will thus have been metamorphosed into a rock composed of sillimanite and quartz, and perhaps some metastable andalusite or kyanite, depending on the details of the burial and heating history.
The time of formation of hydrocarbon inclusions of different phases was determined by the combined analysis of homogenization temperature and reservoir burial heating history (Fig. 8).
Such results suggest that the different heating history of quartz might be an important factor for the variability in dose saturation characteristics for OSL signals.
