The importance of hair length has been reported earlier (6, 10) and can be linked to head-to-head contact needed for inter-head dispersal (8) and the overall increased risk for longer hair to touch other persons' hair.
"One possibility is that an early dispersal headed eastwards through Arabia away from Europe and that the colonisation of Europe through the Levant occurred via a later dispersal," said Professor Chris Stringer, of the Natural History Museum, London.
Among the bilateral clones in the head, one line of dispersal always ends in the region between the external ear and the forelimb (n = 11/11, Fig. 5E').
