"He interjected" is correct and usable in written English.
You can use it when you want to indicate that someone has abruptly inserted themselves into a situation or conversation, usually with something that disrupts the flow or interrupts the speaker. Example: "We were discussing dinner plans when he interjected and suggested a movie night instead."
