Objective To determine whether the ability to stratify an individual patient's hazard for falling could facilitate development of focused interventions aimed at reducing these adverse outcomes.
If they fall on the floor, be sure to pick them up, as they can poke you, possibly mess up your back if stepped on the wrong way, or cause a hazard for falling.
The hazard ratio for falling will be calculated using a Cox-regression model.
For power calculations, we assumed a common baseline rate of 12% of homes having no specified hazards for falls or for ingestions, and aimed to detect an intervention effect of at least doubling of the proportion of safe homes.
