When adjusted for age of diagnosis, T stage, nodal status and ER status using the Cox proportional hazards regression model, high SUVmax was significantly associated with risk of tumor relapse (hazard ratio, 2.39, 95% CI, 1.20 to 4.76) (Table 2).
A multivariable Cox regression analysis revealed that serum MIC1 was an independent factor contributing to prognosis after correction for all of these factors (hazard ratio of recurrence: 1.789 [95%CI, 1.003 3.190], P = 0.050; hazard ratio of tumor death: 2.625 [95%CI, 1.347 5.115], P = 0.005; Table 2).
In addition, patients had twice the hazard of a tumor recurrence or persistence if they were at the 25th percentile of CD1A methylation compared to the 75th percentile.
To investigate the hazard function of tumor recurrence in patients with completely (R0) resected non-small cell lung cancer.
The same has been amended in the legend of Figure 5, section D.] The hazard rate of tumor progression initially increased with time, reached a maximum, and then fell to a basal rate in both responders and nonresponders (Fig. 6).
For a given gene, a univariate Cox proportional hazard regression model was used to estimate the effect of methylation status (partially or completely methylated versus unmethylated) on the relative hazard of risk for tumor recurrence.
Indeed, we found that decreased GATA5 mRNA expression is associated with the diameter of tumors and RFS in univariate Cox regression analysis, showing a hazard ratio of 0.25, which resembles the reciprocal hazard ratio observed for the corresponding methylation analysis.
His scan showed no signs of tumors.
Because DR reduced the prevalence of tumors in Foxo3+/− mice, we also analyzed the lifespan data by tumor-free and tumor-bearing mice separately with the Cox proportional hazards model (Fig. 1E,F; Table S1).
When these signatures are applied to other datasets with different tumor composition, they do not necessarily reflect hazard of recurrence or chance of survival.
