Later credits include the political thriller The Company You Keep (2012); the historical crime drama Gangster Squad (2013), in which he played William H. Parker, the chief of the Los Angeles Police Department in the mid-20th century; and the family drama Hateship Loveship (2013).
Munro's short story about the domestic erosions of Alzheimer's disease, "The Bear Came over the Mountain," originally published in Hateship, Friendship, Courtship, Loveship, Marriage (2001), was made into the critically acclaimed film Away from Her (2006), directed by Sarah Polley and starring Julie Christie and Michael Murphy.
The film, which is directed by Hateship, Loveship's Liza Johnson, will play off the absurdity of it all.
Like the world's longest advertisement for cleaning products, Hateship Loveship might well have come with the tagline: scrub your way to a better life.
Wiig recently starred in Anchorman 2, Hateship Loveship and The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, as well as doing voice work on the hit animated comedy Despicable Me 2. Melissa McCarthy, who enjoyed a breakout role in Bridesmaids, was last year reported to be in negotiations to direct Tammy, a raunchy comedy in which she's also the star.
VS Pritchett's great "When My Girl Comes Home", or Tolstoy's "The Kreutzer Sonata", or Munro's "Hateship, Friendship, Courtship, Marriage", or John Cheever's "The Country Husband" or Eudora Welty's "Why I Live at the PO" are marvellous anthology pieces, and terrific components of collections.
