The HASTE (half-Fourier acquired single-shot fast spin echo) sequence is a fast sequence consisting of heavily T2-weighted images.
Forty sequential T2 weighted HASTE images were acquired with a Siemens Magnetom TrioTim 3.0 Tesla MRI scanner as part of another clinical study.
Acquire Empowering Haste.
Currently, slice thickness as low as 2 mm can be acquired with HASTE and 3 mm with PROPELLER DWI [4].
Crucially, for non-multidirectionally acquired sequences (such as HASTE), which require separate acquisitions for each b value, the measurement parameters and the slice positions for the various b values have to be identical (copy-referenced) to promote better image registration and generation of the ADC map.
The voxel is positioned to avoid blood vessels and the biliary tree, using T2-weighted HASTE transaxial images that are also acquired in the same phase of respiration.
As a fast screener sequence a coronal true fast imaging with steady precession (TRUFI; TR/TE, 4.76/2.38 msec; flip angle, 60 degrees; slice thickness, 5 mm; 256 matrix; FOV, 450 mm) and an axial half-Fourier acquired single-shot turbo spin echo (HASTE; TR/TE, 1070/77 msec; flip angle, 150 degrees; slice thickness, 8 mm; 256 matrix; FOV, 400 mm) as a T2-weighted sequence were acquired.
Following the usual localizer scans, a sagittal T2-weighted half-Fourier single shot turbo spin-echo (SSFSE, HASTE) sequence with a large field of view (FOV) should be acquired to obtain an overview and for planning of the subsequent sequences (e.g. TR ∞, TE 62 ms, slice thickness 5 mm, FOV 255×340 mm, matrix size 116×256, voxel size 2.2×1.3×5 mm).
